Unique Pearl Farm Experience in Ras Al Khaimah

Abdullah Al Suwaidi has preserved the traditional pearl diving heritage by creating a unique pearl farm in Ras Al Khaimah, offering visitors a glimpse into this historic practice and the surrounding natural beauty.

Unique Pearl Farm Experience in Ras Al Khaimah

Unlike the past decades, when traditional pearl diving, known since ancient times for the people of the Emirates, ceased, Abdulla Al Suwaidi was able to preserve the authenticity of this ancient craft. He founded a unique pearl farming company, where the breeding and aquaculture of mollusks occurs naturally. Visitors can immerse themselves in the history of underwater pearl harvesting, understand its historical significance, and enjoy the beauty of the nature of the Ramsa Bay and its surroundings.

Meanwhile, the Al Suwaidi pearl farm was established in 2005 and is located in the Ramsa area, about 12 kilometers from Ras al-Hayma. Abdulla Al Suwaidi, the last in a long line of original pearl divers, considers himself the heir of ancestors who engaged in pearl diving for several generations. In his statement, he emphasizes: "Given that pearl diving has a past in history and due to the hazardous nature of its preservation, the historical value of pearl diving and its beautiful reminiscences, as well as the favorable conditions for pearl production in the waters of the Persian Gulf, all this was sufficient to develop the idea of creating the first and largest pearl farming company in the Persian Gulf."

The fifth campaign of the project "Discover the World's Greatest Winter" draws attention to successful practices and agricultural tourism initiatives in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, the National Agricultural Center, and local tourism organizations. Its goal is to encourage public participation in sustainable agricultural practices, stimulate tourist trips to these successful farms and sustainable agricultural projects, aiming to develop a comprehensive tourism system at the level of the entire country.

The Al Suwaidi farm offers a unique opportunity to experience one of the most amazing tourist and cultural experiences - getting acquainted with the guardians of the traditions of pearl craftsmanship at the farm, located in the foothills of the Hajar mountains. The farm's lake is fed by fresh rainwater, flowing from the Hajar mountains, making this place ideal for the growth and cultivation of pearls. Within the framework of the program, its visitors are offered a unique experience, including practical usage and observation of the processes of pearl differentiation and harvesting of high-quality Arabian pearls, as well as participation in special platforms on the seaside as part of the program of natural imitations of the life of ancestors. Upon guest wishes, one may depart on a traditional fishing boat to the floating farm and start an excursion along with a qualified guide, learning the history of pearl harvesting in the region, getting acquainted with its historical significance, as well as gaining insight into the life of pearl divers, their cultivation and harvesting processes.
